ABOUT JVS

     The Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest, New Jersey (JVS) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian agency that has been providing New Jersey employers and residents with a wide range of employment, training, education and subcontracting services since 1939. Services are provided at our main office in East Orange, as well as at numerous off-site locations throughout the State. Through its JVS Learning Solutions™ division, JVS expanded its services to individuals and organizations outside New Jersey. With an operating budget in excess of $7.2 million, over 200 staff members serve more than 15,000 clients each year under the guidance of a Board of Trustees comprised of community leaders. JVS is part of a network of some 30 affiliated Jewish Vocational Service agencies located throughout North America, South America and Israel. JVS is a member and beneficiary agency of the United Jewish Communities of MetroWest and its United Jewish Appeal and the United Way of Essex and West Hudson. Since its inception JVS has lived by its adopted credo "The highest degree of charity is to take hold of persons who have been crushed....to find work for them and thus put them on their feet so that they will not be dependent upon others." -- Moses Maimonides (1135-1204)
