RETAIL SKILLS

Course One: Customer Service and Communication Skills: An Overview

Focuses on Sales and Service Core Skills. Highlights situations in the Retail, Health Care, and Hospitality Industries. Emphasizes effective communication skills and the importance of relationships in the workplace. Contains the following course lessons:

              • Introduction to the service industry
              • Communication skills overview
              • Communication skills application
              • Attitude, personal appearance, and work ethic
              • Working with dissatisfied customers
              • Problem solving and critical thinking
              • Cultural awareness

Course Two: Customer Service Skills for the Retail Industry

Focuses on the Customer Service Concentration Standards. Highlights information related to the Retail industry. Prepares students for the National Retail Federation’s Certification exam. Contains the following course lessons:
            • Overview of retail establishments and retail employment
            • Initiating customer contact
            • Building customer relations
            • Building the sale/closing the sale
            • Maintaining customer relations
            • Appearance of the department/store
            • Organization safety/security

HEALTHCARE SKILLS

Course One: Customer Service Skills for the Health Care Industry

Focuses on basic communication skills for the Health Care industry. Emphasizes the importance of relationships in the health care environment. Contains the following course lessons:
  • Introduction to the healthcare industry
  • Communication skills overview
  • Communication skills application
  • Attitude, personal appearance, and work ethic
  • Working with dissatisfied patients and clients
  • Problem solving and critical thinking
  • Cultural awareness

Course Two: Medical Administrative Assistant

Focuses on the "hard" and "soft" skills needed to prepare for a career as a Medical Administrative Assistant. Emphasizes the importance of good customer service and communication skills, as well as the more technical office skills required for success in this health care field. Successful completion of the course will prepare students to pass the certification exam for Medical Administrative Assistant offered by the National Healthcareer Association. Contains the following course lessons:
