The Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest, New Jersey (JVS)
is a nonprofit, nonsectarian agency providing New Jersey employers and
residents with a wide range of employment, training, education and subcontracting
services. Services are provided at our main office in East Orange, as
well as at numerous off-site locations throughout the State. With an operating
budget in excess of $7.2 million, over 100 staff members serve more than
15,000 clients each year under the guidance of a Board of Trustees comprised
of community leaders. JVS is part of a network of some 30 affiliated Jewish
Vocational Service agencies located throughout North America. JVS is a
member and beneficiary agency of the UNITED
JEWISH COMMUNITIES OF METROWEST and its United Jewish Appeal and the
United Way of Essex and West Hudson. Since its inception JVS has lived
by its adopted credo "The highest degree of charity is to take hold
of persons who have been crushed....to find work for them and thus put
them on their feet so that they will not be dependent upon others."
