The Career Center is specifically designed to meet the needs of persons diagnosed with ASD who want to enter the workforce. Clients begin by meeting with a Vocational Counselor and completing an intake interview to determine an individual’s particular needs and to develop an individualized plan for services.
Clients participate in a comprehensive vocational evaluation, including the administration of a specialized instrument designed to assess the vocational needs of individuals with ASD. Other evaluation components may include any or all of the following, depending on the individual’s particular needs:
- Achievement and aptitude testing
- Career interest inventories
- Work samples
- Situational assessment
- Learning style, work values and job readiness assessment
Other services offered through the Career Center include:
- Career exploration
- Vocational counseling
- Community based assessment
- Employment readiness trainingSiimulated work stations
- Siimulated work stations
- Field trips, job shadowing and job sampling
- Job seeking skills training including resume development and interview skills
- Job retention strategies
- Individualized job development and placement assistance
- Intensive job coaching services provided on a fee for service basis as approved by NJDVRS
