School-to-Careers Transition Services for Students with Special Needs

Mobile, Short-term Vocational Evaluations Performed at the School Site

  • Flexible, two-to-three day evaluations appropriate for a wide range of functioning levels and adjustable to the student’s individual needs
  • Computer-based and paper-and-pencil instruments
  • Vocational evaluators available to attend I.E.P. conferences
  • Comprehensive written report with specific vocational recommendations
  • Evaluation may include any or all of the following components, depending on the student’s particular needs:
    • Interview
    • Achievement and aptitude testing
    • Work samples
    • Career interest inventories
    • Learning style, work values and job readiness assessment
    • Situational assessment
    • Specialized instrument for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or developmental disabilities

JVS evaluators are qualified professionals experienced in working with students with special needs.

School-to-Careers Transition Services

This program is offered on a nonsectarian basis to classified students with the following disabilities: emotional, neurological, sensory, physical, communication, learning, developmental and ASD.

Vocational Evaluation

  • Vocational interests, attitudes, aptitudes and achievements
  • Work skills, tolerance and habits
  • Physical and psychomotor capacities
  • Work samples and situational assessments
  • Community-based assessment

Work Adjustment Training

  • Individualized plan with vocational counseling
  • Development and maintenance of appropriate work behaviors
  • Remunerative employment experience in a vocational rehabilitation facility to aid in the development of adaptive patterns and behaviors
  • Treatment techniques include goal setting, modeling, work pacing and assessment of learning styles

Specialized Employment Services

  • Job seeking skills training
  • Job development
  • Customized job placement
  • Job coaching and supported employment
