Vocational Rehabilitation Services for Persons with Disabilities--General Services
The Joseph L. Weinberg Vocational Rehabilitation Center, accredited by
CARF ( The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission), provides comprehensive
vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities age 16 -
90+, who, by reason of their disability, are unable to find or sustain employment.Those
served include individuals with emotional, physical, neurological,developmental
, visual, and hearing disabilities.
Specialized services for students with disabilities are provided in the School
to Work Transition Program and for older workers with disabilities in the
Work Center on Aging.

Assesses the person's range of functioning as a
worker through the use of work samples, standardized tests and situational
assessment techniques.

Helps the individual make appropriate choices
leading toward the accomplishment of realistic goals.

Remunerative employment experience in a
sheltered setting to aid in the development of constructive work adaptive
patterns and behaviors.

Four month, 30 hour per week, program
in general office procedures and business English; and, in word processing,
spreadsheet and database utilizing state-of-the-art software and hardware.
Includes ongoing vocational counseling and job placement assistance upon
completion.

This 75 hour course taught by licensed
instructors prepares participants to become state certified Home Health
Aides. Program includes job placement with home health agencies and
post-placement supports.

Includes job seeking skills
training, supported employment, job development, job coaching, job placement
and transitional work experience. A Business Advisory Council of area
business leaders provides program guidance and job leads.

Offered to individuals who are unable to engage in
competitive employment but who can derive therapeutic benefit from a
supportive work environment.
